TRAUMA-INFORMED COUPLES THERAPY IN NEW JERSEY & OREGON

What if…
The distance between you could become the way back to each other?

Two hands reaching toward each other

When you’ve lived through addiction, loss, or trauma, relationships can start to carry the weight of what came before.

Even if you’ve done a lot of personal healing, it can still feel like you and your partner are speaking different languages. One of you pulling close while the other is pulling away when both of you are just trying to feel safe.

In therapy, we slow things down, learn to listen differently, and start building a connection that can hold all of who you both are — the tender parts, the protective parts, and the parts that still want to heal.

Couples and Relationship therapy in Bloomfield, NJ

There’s something on the other side of this distance… let’s find it together.

Maybe conversations turn into arguments faster than either of you intend.

Maybe you’ve said, “We love each other, but we keep getting stuck.”

Maybe it’s hard to trust again, or to stay open when old wounds get touched.

Maybe you’re tired of having the same argument over and over.

You’re not broken — you’re human.

You’ve been through things, individually and together, that have shaped how you show up in love.

What’s happening between you makes sense once you understand your body’s responses, the patterns that kept you safe, and the ways your past shows up in the present.

You want space to understand what’s really happening beneath the surface, and to learn how to move forward with more clarity, care, and connection.

Relationship Therapy can be the place where that begins.

Weekly therapy sessions are where you’ll learn how to:

  • Recognize and shift the patterns that keep you disconnected (even when they’ve been there for years).

  • Own your part in the cycle without blame or shame (and invite your partner to do the same).

  • Practice direct, loving communication that tells the truth and builds connection.

  • Disrupt harmful relational habits with honesty, humility, and accountability.

  • Reclaim a sense of empowerment in your relationship so love can feel mutual, safe, and alive.

HI I’M JULIO

I’m a bilingual (Spanish/English), bi-cultural, licensed marriage, couple and family therapist specializing in relationship healing for couples navigating trauma, addiction, and recovery. My approach is relational and body-based, blending conversation with somatic awareness so that insight and nervous-system safety grow together. Whether you’re rebuilding trust, learning to communicate after addiction, or simply longing to feel close again, I offer a space where both partners can be seen and understood. I walk beside you, not in front of you, as we listen for what your relationship is asking for and move toward a more connected, attuned, and satisfying relationship.

FAQ’s about Relationship Therapy in New Jersey and Oregon

  • I work with couples of all kinds—married, dating, queer, straight, monogamous, non-monogamous—who are seeking deeper connection, clarity, and repair. Many of the couples I support are navigating the impacts of trauma, recovery, or relational rupture, and want to build something more intentional and grounded together.

  • It’s normal for one partner to feel unsure. I approach sessions with curiosity and respect for where each person is coming from. The goal isn't to assign blame, but to understand the patterns between you—and to work together toward something better. Often, once we slow things down and both people feel seen, therapy starts to feel safer and more useful.

  • That’s a valid concern. My approach is both emotionally and practically focused: we work on healing past pain and learning new relational skills. I draw from Relational Life Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and somatic approaches to help you connect, communicate, and repair in real, sustainable ways.
